Are you ready to apply for a position at Heritage Christian Services?  Here are some tips and tricks to help you submit a high-quality application in just a few easy steps!

Step 1: Assess the Position

Before applying, review the job description carefully, as responsibilities vary by program. Although we try to consider location and schedule preferences, roles are assigned based on the greatest needs.

To be eligible for any position at Heritage Christian Services, candidates must have a valid New York State driver’s license that is not suspended, expired or holding points. A high school diploma or GED is also required.

Step 2: Application – Online Forms and Required Documents

Click Apply Online on the Careers page, select your preferred work location (Buffalo or Rochester), choose a position and click Apply for this job online (returning candidates can use Log Back In).

The online application for direct support positions typically has three parts:

Part 1: Forms and required documents

Part 2: The virtual interview

Part 3: The game-based assessment

Create a profile using your email to start the application.  Enter your information in all the required fields and upload any necessary supporting documents. Make sure to review the information for accuracy before clicking “submit.” You should receive an email from HireVue with interview instructions immediately following your submission.

Step 3: Application – The Virtual Interview

HireVue is an ondemand virtual interview that asks all applicants the same questions and can be completed on your phone or computer at any time. If needed, you may save your progress and return later, though we recommend completing it within one to two days.

A great video interview is a great way to make your application stand out. Here are a few must-know tips to help you prepare:

  • Find a good spot to record. Ensure there’s little to no background noise where you can speak without interruption.
  • Take your time with your video. Practice your answers a few times before recording.  If you’re not satisfied with your answer, you’ll have a second chance to record it. Set aside at least one hour to complete the interview.
  • Look at the camera. Maintain eye contact by looking directly into the camera and ensuring that it’s at eye level. Don’t forget to speak slowly and clearly so that we can understand you.
  • Be yourself.  We want to know what makes you unique, so let your personality shine in your video interview. Feel free to dress comfortably—just choose something appropriate for work.

If you’re experiencing technical issues, please return to the email from HireVue and find the link to the HireVue Help Center.

Step 4: Application – The HireVue Assessment

The game-based assessment helps us learn more about how you think, approach tasks and solve problems in the real world. Make sure you’re well-rested, your phone or computer is charged and you have access to a quiet space where you can concentrate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 5: Check Your Email

Once you finish submitting your application, you should receive an email from HireVue confirming your interview was received and there is no further action on your part.  If you don’t receive this email, you may receive another from our team detailing what information still needs to be submitted.

If you feel that this email was received in error, please contact our recruitment coordinator, Julie Boyd, at [email protected].
