Successful Employment for Care Professionals

A Message From Our CEO on care positions starting at $15/hr

Our employees at Heritage Christian Services have proven they’re always essential. People who choose a career that directly supports the health and well-being of others should not have to sacrifice their own well-being to do so. They deserve to earn a wage that allows them self-sufficiency.

We’re proud to announce our commitment to raising our base wage for our caring professionals to $15 per hour in our day habilitation program and $15.75 per hour in our residential and respite programs, effective May 9th.

The full statement from Marisa Geitner, President & C.E.O of Heritage Christian Services, and links to additional informational materials around our wage announcement can be found below.

Did you Know...?

45% of care workers in New York live in or near poverty and 51% need public assistance.

The wage increase will immediately benefit 1,650 people at Heritage Christian Services.

We believe moving the wage of our frontline professionals is a social justice issue.

Specifically, a gender and racial equity initiative. Caring professions across our county are staffed predominately by women, with a growing population being women of color.

How we started

Heritage Christian Services (HCS) was founded in 1980 by the parents of children with developmental disabilities. Their dream was to provide homes with loving Christian environments. The first home opened in 1984 in Webster, and the agency expanded into the Buffalo area in 1996.
